After 46 nights its bye bye to Australia - 22 August

Both Eleanor and Jim woke up with headaches and Jim with a chesty cough - but basically we have all been in very good health since we left so we have nothing to complain about.

In those 46 days we have

• Driven around 8,580 Km - that's 5,330 miles. According to google this is the equivalent of driving from London to New York (one way) or from Leeds to Istanbul and back again.
• Spent 2028 Australian dollars on fuel - that's about £1,290
• Experienced temperatures ranging from 36 degrees Celsius (Broome area) to 5 degrees Celsius (New England National Park, NSWs ).
• Had rain of some description on about 8 days. Only one day in Sydney was particularly unpleasant weather wise resulting in a soaking. We also had squally showers in Perth although we were able to dodge the majority of these.
• Eaten out twice
• Eaten no ice creams - (other than about 15 of the 50 cent McDonald's ice creams, which hardly pass as ice cream)
• Purchased 2 coffees between us (and they tasted great!)
• Been to a pub once, bought about 5 bottles of wine (for sharing) and drunk 4 lites of duty free gin
• Generally got on well as a family - with the odd squabble about nothing thrown in for good measure!

Most importantly, no members of the Hopkinson family reports any regrets about our collective decision to travel to Australia!
