Useful day in Katherine, lovely campsite so we have decided to stay a couple of additional days.
Firstly the van had a warning light which kept telling us that a door was open when it wasn't and worse pinged a bell to tell us this. We took it to a garage arranged by the rental company. Turns out the bonnet was slightly open - which accounted for the light coming on / off every time we went over a bump!
Next we went to the mobile phone shop to try and sort out the internet connection. The fact that we are on line now is testament to the fact that this has worked (long may it continue!) - so we are now on line!
Thirdly we transferred for the first time to a powered site as we were down on power in the van, and the power will enable us to charge up mobiles etc. The drawback to this is we are crammed in - as opposed to the acre of space we previously had!
Fourthly we booked a boat trip on Katherine Gorge - (having been offered an "all subsequent children after 1st child free" deal!) - still not cheap - but Katherine Gorge from my recollection of last time is spectacular and it would be a shame if the kids missed another attempt by their parents to inspire them with our passion for physical geography.
Finally we have had a fantastic swim in hot springs (although at 30 degrees C who needs hot springs), and later tonight we hope to go out Kangaroo spotting by Katherine River - so far we have seen loads of Kangaroos - the problem is that they are all dead on the side of the road!
Now we are on line we will try and get some pictures up!
